One manifestation of JIIPE's Gresik Industrial Estate's concern in carrying out an environmental management system is the construction of a Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP). WWTP in the JIIPE Gresik Industrial Estate was built to address environmental pollution resulting from industries shelter in JIIPE and as one of the supporting facilities offered to investors.
Waste treated by the JIIPE Gresik Industrial Area wastewater treatment plant comes from domestic waste or industrial waste from various companies / industries located in JIIPE Gresik Industrial Estate such as the food and beverage industry, electronic industry, metal industry, manufacturing industry, and chemical industry.
Wastewater treatment process in JIIPE Gresik Industrial Zone is the treatment of industrial wastewater (both domestic and industrial wastes) using activated sludge or activated sludge which functions as a decomposition in biological wastewater treatment processes. For the process of wastewater treatment that is disposed of, it is divided into 11 process units, including: control tub, sewerage system, collecting well, first settling tank (Primary Settling Tank), paritoxidation (Oxidation ditch), sludge divider (Distribution Box), tub Secondary clarifier, indicator pool, effluent tank and Sludge Drying Bed. Each of these processes has a specific function and helps the processing of industrial waste in the Gresik Industrial Zone in JIIPE so that it is safe to dispose of it into the environment.
Water coming out of the JIIPE Gresik Industrial area has a standard of wastewater coming out of the wastewater treatment system fulfilled by JIIPE according to East Java Governor Regulation number 72 of 2013. IPI JIIPE Gresik Industrial Area is a waste water treatment plant that only has a permit to treat wastewater So that the activated sludge is a by-product of the wastewater treatment process at the WWI Gresik Industrial Zone. Active sludge is classified as a hazardous and hazardous (B3) solid waste. In Java itself, authority in the processing of toxic and hazardous (B3) solid waste is only owned by PPLI found in Cullinan, Bogor. Therefore, the WWI Gresik Industrial Zone JIIPE only processes the drying of activated sludge with a filtration system and drying using sunlight.
