Following the establishment of the East Java Industrial Estate JIIPE in Gresik, the Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, hopes that the industrial estate will be able to expand employment opportunities. Khofifah believes that with its capacity and breadth reaching 3000 hectares, JIIPE's East Java Industrial Estate is able to absorb thousands of workers, especially those from the surrounding area.
In this case, Khofifah also launched a strategic step to prepare workers for the East Java Industrial Estate JIIPE. Khofifah plans to make a mapping related to the specific skills needed by the company in the East Java Industrial Zone, JIIPE.
The mapping is then used to determine the next step by involving workers who come from various educational levels, such as SMK, Diploma 1 (D1), Diploma 3 (D3), and Bachelor (S1) in East Java. This is done so that the absorption of local workforce in the East Java Industrial Estate JIIPE can be done more optimally and efficiently.
East Java Industrial Estate JIIPE itself is the largest industrial estate in East Java as well as the first integrated industrial area in Indonesia which has been equipped with ports and docks for cruise ships and housing with the concept of an environmentally friendly independent city, named GEM City, with various exclusive facilities, such as the field golf and shopping center.
